A clear checklist for getting live

What you need to get started

FreeCROTool is designed to be practical, but like any website testing setup, there are a few things that need to be in place first. The good news is that the requirements are straightforward, and support is available if you need help.

A website

This is where the tests will be conducted. Your site can be a traditional website made up of separate pages, or it can be a single page application built with frameworks such as React or Vue.

The key requirement is that there are distinct URLs, routes or page metadata that can be used to understand where a visitor is within the journey.

A small JavaScript snippet

A small piece of JavaScript needs to be added to your pages through code or your content management tooling. This is how the testing logic can initialise on the site.

If you need support getting this in place, that support is part of the process.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is used to measure how users interact with the different versions of your test so that results can be reviewed.

In practical terms, you will need a GA4 property with a stream available so the testing events can be pushed into it. We can help you set this up if needed.

What you may need to do on your side

Add the snippet

Add the required JavaScript snippet through code, your CMS or another suitable route. We can guide you with this.

Provide GA details

Have the relevant Google Analytics stream in place so events can be sent correctly. We can also guide you on this too.

Good news for modern sites

FreeCROTool is not limited to old-style websites. If your site is built as a SPA (Single Page App) using a framework like React or Vue, it can still work as long as there are identifiable routes or metadata signals that show where the visitor is in the experience.

Support is part of the model

You are not expected to figure everything out alone. If you need support adding the snippet or providing the right Google Analytics details, that can be guided as part of our getting started meeting.

Ready to see if your site is a fit?

If you already have a website, some access to your setup and a desire to improve conversions, you may be closer to getting started than you think.
